The new 55+ active adult Florida communities has changed dramatically since I began selling Florida real estate. 55+ communities were originally Florida condos where adults could live and enjoy retirement. In place of small Florida condos we are seeing active adult communities featuring single family homes. You are seeing more full time residents and wanting larger spaces and more amenities. The original 55+ communities would feature a community pool, tennis courts and club rooms. Today we see communities like Riverland in Port St Lucie featuring homes from 1,700 to 3,500 sq. ft and amenities you could only imagine. 52 pickleball courts, 12 tennis courts, bocce courts and a 50,000 sq. ft fitness center. Lap pools, resort pools and restaurants on-site. Communities with hundreds of clubs to join and meet new friends. A far cry from the original 55+ communities in Florida.

Pickleball is the newest rage around the country. A great sport for young and old where you can enjoy friendships, exercise and be competitive. Every community has turned their tennis courts into pickleball courts to fulfill the new sport that has grown around the country. Florida with it’s great Winter weather and being a snowbird state pickleball has become the new place to be active and meet new friends. Some of the best pickleball communities in Florida include Valencia homes in Port St Lucie.  This is by far the #1 active adult community in Florida.
