                   Jupiter Florida

One of the reasons I moved to Jupiter Florida was the small town feel it had back in 1997. I had worked in Jupiter in 1986 for several months but didn’t move here until ten years later. It was still a quaint little beach town similar to what Boca Raton had been when I moved there in 1979. Looking for my first house I found it in the Jupiter real estate section of the Palm Beach Post. I remember it like yesterday. Beach cottage 2bd/2ba five  houses to the beach. $169,900.

I drove up and meet the Jupiter realtor who actually lived in the neighborhood. She showed me the house in the ad and the house next door. The property backed up to a nice preserve area and sat on a cul de sac. At the time most of the neighbors were snow birds so it was like living in my own piece of paradise. I ended up buying the house and still own it today.

Back when I moved to Jupiter Florida A1A still had parking where you pulled off the road and parked in the dirt. There was no bike lane or sidewalk. The Jupiter dog beach was very popular and each night I would walk my two dogs over to the beach and let them run. Seldom did you see other dogs on the beach. It was my own private paradise.

Around 2001 McArthur started selling all the land he owned which included where Abacoa is now built and much of Palm Beach Gardens. It was taking off slowly but by 2004 it was in full motion building everywhere. Buyers were flipping houses and making huge profits before they even closed on their flips. Jupiter had transitioned into a very different town yet was still very nice with plenty of green space, parks and natural areas that had been preserved. Today many of the Jupiter Fl homes have increased in value nearly 3 fold since 1997.

Today Jupiter Florida still remains one of the most desirable areas to live here.
